Augustin and Carys for Ashrynby ~ruzkin

Woo, finally done the lineart! This'll all be coloured eventually, but right now I'm putting what's done in for *ashryn's competition.

In short, I had to draw one or more of her characters in the theme and mood of one of her songs. I decided to draw both Augustin and Carys, in the mood of Beborn Beton: Another World.

Augustin and Carys are siblings, and at some point Carys either left home or was thrown out by her parents, who favoured Augustin over their druggie daughter. I decided to rewrite canon slightly so that Carys left home, leaving only a letter for her brother.

I decided to both draw in the mood of the song (27 listens, according to iTunes!) as well as incorperate some of the lyrics into Carys' letter. Hopefully Ashryn likes this as much as I do...

Oh yeah, one more thing... all done in Photoshop CS with a Wacom2, and ALL on one layer. It's kinda liberating, not drawing individual bits on different layers - just having to run with mistakes on the fly. I shall do this more often.

Anyways, enjoy the lineart, I'll have a coloured version up within a few days.

The setting, the mood, the emotion, it's all there. You're making me feel more and more like a real amateur in this way, man *is a comic artist to some degree herself* ^_^

For Carys, I'm reminded of Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" - just the solitary air she carries as she walks away, back turned from everything she knew, brings out that raw emotion. The kind of emotion that says "Screw them, I'm walking this road on my own."

And Augustin in his own way is defeated by what's happened. The clutching of Carys's letter in his hands brings the viewer into what he's going through. Very well done. I cannot wait to see this piece coloured, every bit of it will certainly convey the mood between both characters.

And Ashryn herself is perhaps one of my chieftain inspirations. To see others taking her creations into how they see them is wonderful *nods*

You shouldn't be hard on your self as regards your art, it's actually really damn nice. You should submit more stuff! Only two pieces is a travesty! If you ever want me to comment on a piece you upload just buzz me, I'd be more than happy to critique (although in all honesty, my art isn't much compared to some people here on Dev).

Anyway, ciao, enjoy the holidays and say hi to ~reggie-san if you see her loitering about Adelaide.

I was considering coming back to DA (I'm actually nowhere near new to this place - art theft and stupidity of some particular users drove me away originally), but upon learning of *frisket17's leavance due to ongoing art theft (in which very little was done by DA so I hear; I don't know the full story, but she was a beautiful lady and a large chunk of my inspiration along the way of my style), I've been having second thoughts about returning. I am aware art theft happens, but attempting to stop it is nowhere near as easy; even copyrighted pieces for art auctions are being pilfered now, so I am a little wary about coming back to this place.

Many thanks for the compliments on my artwork - that style's stuck with me for around 16 years, so it shows little sign of slowing down to that respect. My work's also on FurAffinity (ShadowingDestiny) and hopefully by the end of the year at a flash site (Lightfyris Inc.) my fiance and I are working on with a dear friend and colleague. For the moment though, I retreat to this "dummy" account of sorts to comment and

works that some of my closer and newer friends have done.

I'll see if I can catch reggie-san around, thanks for the link

Y'know you've actually got a nack for furs heads, maybe your basing it off Ashryns style but you still pulled it off well.
Nice shading too and the layout's pretty phwaresome too.

The colors gonna be pretty good with a base like this methinks
